What a nice trip

We got home around 8:00 on Saturday. The trip was wonderful. Dan and I got there on Wednesday night and met up with Matt. We spent the day Thursday sightseeing. We went to the Capitol, the Supreme Court Building and the Folger Museum. While we loved the Capitol and the Supreme Court Building we were disappointed with the Folger Museum.

For those of you who don't know what the Folger Museum is - it is a museum dedicated to William Shakespeare. And since I teach Shakespeare, I thought it would be a good stop. There was nothing even remotely connected to Shakespeare-except the bookstore. It's a good thing there was no charge, or else we would have been upset.

Dan and I were both awestruck with the size of the Mall. The first picture is taken at the base of the Capitol looking out into the Mall. We couldn't even begin to imagine how that must have looked on Inauguration Day. The second picture is of a security officer standing where the President must have stood when he was sworn in - notice the M-16. Even though the officer had an assault weapon in his possession, he still waved to me after I took his picture.

So if the museum wasn't about Shakespeare, does that mean it was about coffee?
