Everyone likes being taken care of

Every Tuesday I have to go to Southfield for a class. I leave Hillsdale at 3:00 and get to Norm and Joan's at 4:15. Every week, like clockwork, dinner has been waiting for me. I love the fact that even though I'm 46 years old my mommy and daddy still want (and like) to take care of me.

Yesterday's menu Reuben Sandwiches - Yum.

10.53

I am VERY proud of myself. I just ran 11 miles in 1 hour 59 min and 51 seconds. That translates to a 10.53 miles. What makes this run so special is that is was outside as opposed to the treadmill. Never in a million years would I imagine myself doing this.

CORRECTION

I made a mistake on Nate's lifting. He lifted 355 not 244. Nate is not a wimp. My error. Sorry Nate

Mr. English the Substitute Teacher

Matt has been on spring break this week and was able to get a few days subbing. He was Mr. English the 5th grade teacher. He came home very happy both days (thurs and fri) Today a little girl in his room made him a sign: "Mr English you Rock." He was definately all smiles with that. He said things were hectic today: two hour today, a special afternoon with an assembly type activity and to top things off a mom brought in cookies for the class. Welcome to elementary education.

Subpoenaed

Matt is home for spring break taking care of all sorts of loose ends. When I got home from work, I saw a subpoena sitting on the counter. The subpoena is for that incident a few months back where someone ripped the mirror off the car. He has to go to court March 16. Who knows if he will have to take the stand or not. Hopefully the person will have to pay for the car to get fixed.

And the winner is

Sunday the Hillsdale College Football Team had its annual lift-a-thon. They just got done with morning conditioning and to wrap things up they compete by weight class. Last year Nate was able to life 245lbs. This year he lifted 255lbs. He was very pleased with that. He has been dealing with a wrist injury so has only been lifting for about a month. Not only did he PR he won his weight class. Needless to say he was very excited. So excited, in fact, that when he was done competing he come over to me and asked if this was going to make the blog.

Weekend with the dogs

On Saturday Dan and I went to Detroit to check out the Detroit Kennel Club Dog show at Cobo Hall. We had never been to anything like that and found it to be very interesting.

We, of course, watched the bulldog competition. This little thing really cracked us up. His owner was quite attentive to his every needs They do tend to overheat, so a cool head and body wrap might come in handy.

Nate told us about this movie called Best in Show. I watched a few clips on YouTube and will admit that while the movie pokes fun at the intensity of people with their dogs, the folks we saw really take this seriously. I guess everyone needs a hobby.

Taking yet another class.

I started yet another class this week. I am taking a class for the next 6 weeks that meets in Southfield every week. So on those days I leave school right at 2:30, go home, get my things together, drive to Plymouth for a quick dinner, than dash off to class, spend 3 hours there and then drive the 2 hours back home.

And to think a lot of people think teachers have it easy.
