Sto Lat

We went to Al and Sarah's house today to celebrate Paige and Busia's birthdays. Paige is now 7 and lets just say Busia is older than 7. It was a very nice afternoon. The food was good, the weather was perfect and the company was, as always, a laugh a minute. We don't get together all that often, but when we do we always seem to have a great time.

Paige was funny. Busia got her some Nintendo DS games, each of them individually wrapped. When Paige unwrapped the first one and realized what it was, she turned away from everyone and measured the open box to the boxes still wrapped. When she realized that they were all the same size, she realized she hit pay dirt.

I don't have many picture of the two of us. You can definitely tell that we are mother/daughter. This might even make it into a frame for display.

Memories of the end of the school year

I am starting to get my classroom in order for the summer: putting things up, removing bulletin boards, storing things back in their correct place, etc. when my mind started to wander back to my elementary school days. I remember (especially from 6th grade on) we would spend the last week of school helping the teacher clean. We would have to bring in sandpaper and sand the edges of the books. I guess so they looked new for the next year.

I loved this time because we didn't have to wear our uniforms. I even remember one year - not sure what year- when I missed the last day of school because I was sick. I was so upset. I remember my mom telling me I couldn't go to school, as I was lacing up my new tennis shoes. A very big deal in a uniform wearing student's life.

Now I look at the end of the year a different way. Where did the time go? It seems like we just started school and it's now the end of another year. Unlike my Catholic school days when we got out before Memorial Day-I have until June 10th to get everything done.

Happy Mother's Day

What a great Mother's Day weekend. Last weekend we did some landscaping in the front yard. To fill the see of dirt Dan bought me a flowering crab apple tree. They delivered it yesterday. I watched as they dug the hole (way deeper than we would have dug), and then attempted to pull the tree from the container and get it into the grounds. All I can say is that sometimes "paying the guy" is worth it. This process was way more than Dan and I could have done.

Sunday the boys cooked dinner for me. Nate made a pasta salad while Matt grilled chichen. They did 90% of the work - Dan helped Matt a bit and I helped Nate a bit. They bought me an Ipod. Nate was so excited; he got the ipod from Ebay and saved 26%.

You got to love Nate's shirt. He said he got it for something during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So Maureen if you read this blog - that shirt's for you. If you can't quite make it out it says: Boobies make me smile.

Happy Mother's Day to all those mothers out there.

Matt got his placement

Matt's Internship placement

I tried to figure out what this organization actually does - I'm confused. I guess I'll just have to wait for Matt to fill me in once he gets there - in a month!!
