A year ago today

A year ago today Nate won the shot put in Division 3. In winning, he also set a new Division record. Well, as we all know records are made to be broken. The throwers this year are extremely competitive, and Nate is pretty confident that his record is getting broken today.

News just in - Nate's record was broken :(

Happy Birthday Busia

I know this is posted a day late. My intent was to post it on Friday when you officially turn "26", but the boys got a new computer game, and with Nate's work schedule yesterday was the first day he was able to play. I felt sorry for him. So here it is a day late.

Memorial Day/Birthday Celebrations

Allen and Sarah were generous enough to open their house the any Ozog who wanted a place to celebrate Memorial Day, or was willing to pay $4.19 per gallon of gas to get there. It was a great day. The weather was wonderful, the food fabulous and the company ???(what word starting with C can I use here).

We had started out celebrating Busia's birthday and Paige's birthday. By the end of the afternoon we added Lottie, Eric, Adam, and David to the list. Nate's girlfriend had never experienced Sto Lat - needless to day, this was quite the experience for her, not once, but the 5 times we sang it.

Life is good

Now that the boys are "Grown A## Men" Dan started a tradition of getting them each a cigar for Christmas. Well, we were all sick this Christmas, so they did not smoke their gifts. The other night my three boys broke out the stogies while sitting by the fire

Pics from Italy

Here a few pictures from Matt's trip to Italy. In his words, "A trip of a lifetime." He said that he would move to Florence in a heartbeat.

Dance Recital

Yesterday I surprised Paige by showing up at her dance recital. She was beautiful. This was her first year in dance; when I asked her if she is going to do it next year, her response was, "No, the practices are too long, and I just like the recital."

Prom Season in Texas

What a beautiful young woman. I don't know what you all think looking at the picture, but I think that Morgan and Matt could be brother and sister. Three Roden graduations down 6 more to go. I guess by the time the last one graduates (Neil) we'll start with the third generation.

Here and Gone

Well Matt has been home a week and has cooked dinner, moved rocks, done some shopping and is now preparing for his trip to Italy. Yesterday he was able to check his grades on line. WOW - he got all A's. Needless to say he was very proud; I do not think this has happened since he was in elementary school, and even then I'm not so sure. Dan and I are very proud of him; we were even more happy to see how proud he was of himself. He loved his classes and wants to talk politics and world policy constantly. It is not unusual for me to come home from work to find him either reading some sort of history book or watching CNN. Things have definitely come a long way from his freshman year when he wanted to transfer. He even said to me today that he loved Adrian and is glad he stayed.

Nate finishes up his finals on Tuesday; I guess he will be home sometime that afternoon. He got a phone call from Pepsi today. Apparently one of the applicants who was going to drive in the truck did not pass his drug test. The secretary immediately thought of Nate; he voiced an interest in having the same job Matt has. She called him and offered him the route job instead of the warehouse job. Nate jumped at the opportunity. Now both boys can drive in and home together.

It's a good thing that the boys like each other, since they will be spending a lot of time together. Matt is glad that they have the same schedule so that Nate can spot him when they lift.
