Spring Break is finally here

I know that this might sound a bit selfish for those of you who are not teachers, but there is a definite need for a break when the weather changes. Teachers are tired of the kids and the kids are tired of the teachers. A week off gives everybody a much needed rest to tackle the remainder of the year.

Matt and Nate are both involved in spring football. Matt is battling a pinched nerve, so he has not been able to practice. His hope is that later this week he will be able to suit up and take some reps.

Nate started out on the 3rd string. As the days go one he has moved up. He was excited on Saturday when he got lots of practice with the 1st string and caused a fumble.

Dan and spend the weekend in Chicago. Neil was baptized on Sunday and we are his godparents. We had an awesome time. Friday night we went to dinner with Brian and Heather. It was a small, intimate Irish restaurant. On Saturday we went into the city for the day.

Before we left I was talking with my boss about this and that.(This and that meaning boobs and butts.) She told me about this place in Chicago-called Intimacy-that fits you for the perfect bra. When we were there on Saturday I was able to make an appointment (yes these are needed) to get fitted for the perfect bra. After 45 minutes of pampering I walked out of the store a new woman. Dan was a trooper. He walked around Chicago, checking out the sights and looking for that perfect spot to eat lunch. We ate at this little Italian bar/restaurant. The food and atmosphere were wonderful.

On Sunday, Neil was baptized. He was awesome. The only time he cried was when the water was being poured over his head. The rest of the time he was wonderful. Bennet was great too. For the most part Uncle Dan and Aunt Donna spoiled the both of them. I held Neil and Dan introduced Bennet to pop and a pen. When we left Bennet was bouncing off the walls from the sugar high; and Dan had pen all over his shirt and chin.

We're done with the baby phase of our life - when we do have a chance to be around the younger ones, we really enjoy it.

Norm is doing great since his hip replacement surgery. He still can't bend over. I couldn't resist taking a picture of Busia helping him with his shoelaces.

I have uploaded pics from this weekend to my Flickr account. The should start to circulate on the side bar (hopefully). Click here for a closer look

Spring is in the air

Dan returned home safely from Florida. It was a little touch-and-go as they travelled through the Ohio Valley. They hit the area during the climax of this past weekend's winter storm. The four of them made it home safely; they did wonder, however, why there were so few cars on the road. I guess they didn't hear or see the messages telling motorists to get off the road.

For the last three weeks Nate has had to get up at 5:30 to be at the field house ready to rock-n-roll by 6:00. On Sunday they started their final phase of testing before spring ball starts after spring break. Nate was able to do 285x1 in the hang clean.(I have a video clip of this but it wouldn't load properly) He also squatted 405x4 and was able to bench 325x1. Now I don't know if any of this is good or not but Dan says it is, so I'm going with that.

The clocks are sprung ahead; the days are getting longer and hopefully warmer. Dan has started track. With all of these things in place, spring must almost be here. We may even work an entire week of school this week!!!

Another shortened week

So here it is Wednesday and I am able to post a message on my blog. "Why?" You ask. Because we are off school again due to snow. I think this now makes 4 days we have to make up. At this rate we may be done by the July.

As teachers we get an early morning call from the administration. Dan and I, in turn, have to call 4 other teachers on a list. At the beginning of snow season, making these calls was fun. Teachers were just as happy as the kids to have a day off. Now I dread making the call. Teachers are trying to be consistant with their lessons and this weather is not allowing that to happen.

When Dan called me this morning, from sunny Florida, he had to rub it in that it was going to be in the mid 80's and sunny. They are going to the Tiger's game today at 1:00. The weather should be great.
